The Home is a spacious Victorian style double fronted house, comfortably furnished and tastefully decorated to create a peaceful and welcoming presence.

On the ground floor there are two large reception rooms and a separate dining room. A large kitchen is purposely laid out to create two preparation and working areas, enabling Service Users independence in domestic kitchen skills. Also on the ground floor is a small staff office with en suite shower and toilet facility. This bathroom is available for visitors with mobility difficulties when necessary.A broad staircase leads to a toilet room, two bathrooms, both with baths, showers, toilet and sinks, and four large bedrooms. There is a small sitting room for Service Users to use at anytime if they choose.There is a garden laid to lawn at the front of the property whilst the rear of the property consists of a garden / seating area with separate parking area, a storage shed and a garage/work store.

Location of ‘21’

The Home is situated in central Plymouth. There is a large, spacious and well equipped park within two minutes walk (Freedom Park) with a cafe and distant sea views.A five minute walk in the opposite direction leads to another park/green area with reaching views over the estuary. A busy high street with shops, banking and post office is within a ten minute walk (Mutley Plain) and the main shopping centre and mall is within 15 minutes walk.There is an excellent bus service covering all areas of the city, including colleges, and the main train station is nearby. Access to many beaches takes only a short drive and Dartmoor National Park is a 15 minute drive from the property.

Independence

The home is designed to enhance and promote an individual’s self-help and organisation skills in all areas of their daily living.

The kitchen has two separate sinks and two cookers (one gas/one electric) and a large island in the centre for preparation. The two spacious lounges and separate dining area ensures individuals can find their own space away from others should they so choose. This also enables Service Users to meet with family and friends with privacy. A desktop computer, with internet access is available for Service Users in the lounge to allow access to emails and Skype for keeping in touch with friends and family. A cordless telephone is also available for making personal calls in private.
